A tribute to the men who worked on the building of the now iconic Knockalla Coast Road the official unveiling of the Information Board at Binn na Sceiligh will take place on Saturday 16th August at 11.00am. Officially opened in 1971 the Coast Road is now the backdrop for many a spectacular photograph and this Information Board tells the story of how, why and who built the road. An incredible feat of engineering the project was a huge boost to a community ravaged by emigration in the 1960's and 70's. The Knockalla Coast Road story has been researched and documented by local historian Arthur Lynch who will be in attendance, along with some of the men who worked on it's construction.
