LECTURE / Sand Martins as Builders - Interesting Architectural Solutions from Nature

Overview

The lecture will familiarize the general public with the special building skills of the protected bird species, sand martins, the smallest swallows in Croatia. Colonies of these migratory birds are a recognizable factor of the traditional Posavina landscape, valuable natural heritage and a kind of wilderness architectural heritage. The lecture will also present the project of JU Natura Slavonica, unique and rare in the Republic of Croatia, through which experts, imitating nature, reconstruct and restore abandoned habitats to create conditions for the return and survival of this species.
