«La balade du Moine»: discover the history of an abbey nestled in the heart of the Petite Camargue
This loop ride was imagined by some enthusiasts. It allows you to trace the history of the abbey of Franquevaux and the hamlet by strolling through the streets of today. This easy walk of about 2 hours will take you from the school to the current chapel. The departure is at the arena where you can easily park your vehicle. The “Le Moine Walk” will be accompanied by guides. There will be 1 guided tour departure that day, accessible by reservation. Franquevaux is located in the municipality of Beauvoisin, in the heart of the Petite Camargue, halfway between the towns of Saint-Gilles and Vauvert. Located near the Canal du Rhône in Sète and on the edge of the Scamandre pond, facing the wild landscapes that spread endlessly, this hamlet of Franquevaux was built on the ruins of an old Cistercian abbey, some of whose remains are still clearly visible.
