Founded in 1114, the Cistercian abbey of Pontigny has established itself for more than 900 years in the landscape and history of the Yonne. Through the centuries, it has known everything, the dark hours and the splendours of glory. In the 12th century, it radiated throughout the world, at the head of 44 girl abbeys. Today, under the leadership of the François Schneider Foundation and some lovers of the place, it is at the heart of an ambitious program focused on the Earth. In this unique project, the earth will express itself in all its forms: as matter to cultivate, as matter to create, to think, to build but also as matter to explore.
