The German composer's fantastical opera opens the season at the Opéra Comique! From 25 September to 5 October 2025, the Opéra Comique presents Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Jacques Offenbach's famous fantasy opera. Inspired by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, a central figure of German Romanticism, the work offers a portrait of him that is both satirical and moving. Settled in a tavern, the poet Hoffmann, played by tenor Michael Spyres, confides in his rival Lindorf and his friend Nicklausse about his unhappy romantic adventures. The production is directed by Lotte de Beer, with musical direction by Pierre Dumoussaud. Performed in French with French and English surtitles. Time 8pm on 25, 27 and 29 September, and 1 and 3 October. 3pm on 5 October.
