Overview

Erected in the heart of the municipality, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert town hall is the work of architect Joseph Diongre, one of the leading exponents of a style somewhere between Art Deco and Modernism, and the creator of numerous landmarks in Brussels. Inaugurated in 1939, the modernist-style building combines small granite and yellow Boom brick. It features a 30 m-high polygonal belfry tower. The interior space is organised around the concourse, with its hushed, monumental ambience, an exceptional gathering place. When you enter the building, you will have an unobstructed view of the counters and the upper floor of the building, thanks to the passageway encircling the rotunda, all naturally lit by the openwork dome. Some rooms have parquet flooring and wood panelling, while the stairwells are adorned with marble.
