Housed in the former 18th century Steinbach Villa, the Museum of Fine Arts offers a getaway in the heart of art history that begins in the 15th century with the magnificent altarpiece of Rheinfelden. The classical centuries represented by Brueghel, Boucher and Teniers follow. The 19th century is the highlight of the collections, with works by Boudin, Jongking, Géricault, Courbet and Bouguereau among others. Alsatian artists are also well represented, including Jean-Jacques Henner, to whom a room is dedicated. The permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts occupy the entire 1st floor, while the rooms of the 2nd floor welcome contemporary creation: internationally renowned artists (Segui, Ming, Spoerri, Rotella, etc.) are invited for temporary exhibitions, alternating with plastic artists from the Mulhousian region.
