Overview

In its premises in Nanterre, (see the link https://mege-paris.org/) the association MEGE (Mémoire de l'Electricité du Gaz et de l'Eclairage public) keeps the materials that tell the story of the distribution of gas and electricity in the Paris region. You will discover the evolution of gas and electricity distribution techniques and equipment, from the 19th century to today, an extraordinary collection of light bulbs and lanterns for public lighting, tools, meters, old documents, including on safety, as well as many models. The copy of the lithograph La Fée Electricité by Raoul Dufy has been displayed since the summer of 2024. You will see the collections of ancient equipment that were used to distribute electrical and gas energy and illuminate public spaces and monuments as well as the evolution over time of metering devices for electricity and gas. Finally, an exhibition of many models of vehicles used by distributors over the past 70 years will be presented to you as well as the usual objects of electricity applications in daily life. You will be accompanied, during your visit, by electricians and gas volunteers members of the association who will share their passion for distribution professions. Game booklet for 7-12 year olds.
