Overview

Established in 1947, the French Institute in Hungary is one of the oldest foreign cultural centres in Budapest. Located initially on the Pest side, it is since 1992 at 17 Fő utca on the Buda side, on the banks of the Danube. The French Institute in Hungary is a place of culture, debate and meeting, learning and catering, open to all audiences. It aims to support exchanges between France and Hungary in the educational, cultural, academic, technical and scientific sectors. Acting as a relay for cooperation, its mission is also to promote French culture in its most varied expressions: music, cinema, visual arts, live performances, debate of ideas, etc.
