Matineu muzeal: „Arc peste timp - Complexul Arhitectural Medieval Brebu sec. al XVII-lea - Muzeul Casa Domnească Brebu - sec. XX-XXI”
The "Casa Domnească Brebu" museum is a medieval building, mentioned for the first time in 1640, during the reign of Matei Basarab. It was the royal residence for the ruling families, both in times of peace and war. It had a defensive-military character, but also of prayer, because in the courtyard of the house is the Brebu Monastery. This is a foundation of Matei Basarab, whose construction ended in 1690, under the rule of Constantin Brâncoveanu. It is one of the oldest medieval houses in Wallachian space, preserved in its authentic form. It is considered a secular architectural gem, from the first half of the 17th century, with a spacious loggia, compared to other stately houses in Romania. Its role was recreational, being often used for royal guests. Today, it is the venue for the events recorded in the museum's cultural agenda. Inside the house you can see a trip to the Romanian Middle Ages, all the pieces evoking a glorious past. Among the most representative pieces exhibited in the "Casa Domnească Brebu" Museum is the collection of old books (Bible from Bucharest, Cazania from Iași) and other valuable documents of the time, along with icons, medieval clothing and personal belongings.
