Overview

Mayo boasts some of the world’s most spectacular coastlines and nestled safely in its bays are families who have spent generations, keeping their traditions alive.
Atlantic Productions Ireland captures and shares the story of these families who live proudly off Mayo’s Coast for generations and their social history. Through the families of some of the well-known Islands dotted around Clew Bay, including Inishturk, Clare Island, Collenmore, etc. We also visit Claggan, off The Belmullet coast along with the Inishkea Islands, Achill Beg, Inishbiggle, Achill Island. The hour-long documentary will include the challenges the islanders face in a changing Ireland and share their traditions and customs of everyday life for example their reliance on home produce, agriculture, and connectivity to the greater world. The importance of what the future holds for these islands, and for generations to come will prove historical valuable in time. The Islands are unique unspoilt and are special places. The documentary which also has some spectacular scenery and historical facts will be broadcast in the coming weeks on TV Ireland Sky Channel 186.
Join us at Mayo County Library on Thursday 22nd August at 7pm when Cameraman Tommy Murphy will discuss the documentary.
