Mitchelstown Heritage Society in conjunction with Saint George's Arts and Heritage Centre and the Select Vestry of the Fermoy Union of Parish's will hold a free public guided heritage walk this Sunday, August 18th meeting at Saint George's Arts and Heritage Centre at 2pm. This guided tour will explore the history of Saint George's and its adjoining graveyard as well as Mitchelstown's Georgian Quarter. Linking over 4000 years of history, the walk explores the threads that bind Walt Disney, tribal wars in Afghanistan, the battle for North Africa in WWII, Walt Disney, Ned Kelly, pirates, a scandalous Victorian courtcase, duels, public hangings, mad Earls, the Land War and the Aztecs to Mitchelstown.
