Historically, the rural world has been kept out of any project educational. Therefore, the creation of schools close to rural areas (neighbourhood schools) became a necessity at the beginning of the
20th century. This new model allowed schooling and socialization of a large number of children.

The sociologist Patxi Juaristi will talk to us about the origin and meaning of these centres, the work of teachers and the importance of the Basque language. In addition to the talk, we will have a photographic exhibition and testimonies of that time.
