Overview

Come and discover the material and living heritage of the Creusot Railways (CFC), on the occasion of the European Heritage Days and the open doors of the home site of the most powerful series steam locomotive in Europe, the 241 P 17, machine built in the Schneider workshops in Le Creusot. The volunteers will be happy to welcome you and present this jewel, dear to the creusotins, as well as their dedication to maintain this iron and steel mastodon. You will be able to discover the different know-how that has been passed on by the older generations and which surrounds steam engines (30 to 45 minutes of visit). These open doors will also be an opportunity to board a real steam train from 1917 that will take you on the traces of the industrial past of the city of Le Creusot, as well as exchange with the different actors of the association and discover the ongoing maintenance work. Departure of the steam shuttles:

  • station of the CFC Creusot Ville at 11:10 am, 3:00 pm and 5:15 pm;
  • Combes station at 1:45 PM, 4 PM and 6:10 PM.
