Overview

When Jean-Pierre Poisson places the brush on the blank canvas, it’s as if he was laying down the first chord of one of his improvisations on the piano. In painting as in music, he draws his inspiration from the emotion of the moment: total improvisation. One of his paintings was bought by a collector at the prestigious first auction house Christie’s, in Hong Kong, on April 20, 2022. Painter of emotion, he uses Chinese brushes for calligraphy—heritage of several years of work with a Chinese painter — which allow him to achieve very particular effects. He works with glazes to obtain a transparency that gives the impression that the painting is lit from behind. He has exhibited at the Galerie Mouvances, place des Vosges in Paris, and at the Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery in Hong Kong for about fifteen years. He regularly holds numerous exhibitions in France and abroad (New York, Shanghai, Moscow, Miami, Tokyo...). In 2003, he created an exclusive exhibition in Spain at the international conference Mediterranean Forum, organized by José María Aznar, Spanish Prime Minister, which was attended by the heads of government of the countries bordering the Mediterranean. Moreover, he was asked to exhibit again in May and June 2016, after a first exhibition in 2013, several paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts in Saint-Petersburg, then at the one in Moscow, as part of the exhibition Nuits Parisiennes. He regularly holds public auctions at the Hotel Drouot, in Paris. He has been invited by Artcurial, Tajan and Cornette de Saint Cyr at prestigious sales (Vlaminck, Basquiat, Dalí, Botero, Buffet, Warhol...) where his works are bought beyond their estimation—lately at Christie’s in Hong Kong. His paintings are present in a number of films, notably Le Grand Partage with Didier Bourdon and Karin Viard (December 2015). The wealth management magazine Gestion de Fortune, in its March 2010 issue, devoted a two-page article to him in its "Advice" section. Jean-Pierre Poisson is listed on international quotation sites: Artprice.com, Artnet.com, Akoun.com... His workshop-exhibition room of 500 m2 is located in the former tannery of the nineteenth century, full of charm, in Gélos. Informations Free.
