Our Sunken Treasure - A Walk and Talk
Overview
To celebrate Heritage Week 2024 there will be a walk and talk led by Maighread Hourihane, who has researched our sunken treasure - The Lady Lansdowne. This was the most majestic of river boats playing it's trade up and down the River Shannon. It came to an untimely end in 1867-8 when it was beached in the shallows just north of the present day Lakeside Hotel. This will be a most interesting talk taking in the history of trade and travel on the Shannon.
