El poblado ferroviario de La Encina celebra el 10 de junio de 2023, un  evento cultural que pone en valor su historia ferroviaria con la colaboración de sus habitantes. Bajo el nombre "PATRIMONIO FERROVIARIO. Una instalación participativa", numerosos vecinos de La Encina coordinados por Vanesa García López de Andújar, arquitecta especialista en gestión patrimonial y vecina de la localidad, se han unido para crear una instalación artística efímera en torno al pasado, presente y futuro del patrimonio ferroviario de la población y su papel en el desarrollo sostenible local.

La Encina, es el único poblado ferroviario puro de la Comunidad Valenciana, y cuenta con un patrimonio ferroviario, que se remonta hasta mediados del s. XIX,  que es la clave de la identidad local. Además, ha sido declarado Bien de Relevancia Local por sus valores arquitectónicos, históricos, etnológicos, tecnológicos y otros de naturaleza cultural, entre ellos los paisajísticos, sociales, e industriales. A lo largo de los últimos años la población ha albergado varias actividades en el marco de las Jornadas Europeas del Patrimonio, y los más pequeños fueron galardonados en 2021 con el premio European Heritage Makers.

Esta iniciativa, llevada a cabo gracias a la convocatoria de “Propuestas Culturales de Arte, Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad” de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, tiene como objetivo la reivindicación de la necesidad de conservación del patrimonio ferroviario local en riesgo a la vez que se rinde homenaje a esta herencia no solo material, sino también inmaterial y se resalta su importancia en la historia de la población como seña de identidad, como Patrimonio Vivo.

The railway village of La Encina celebrates, on June 10, 2023, a cultural event that highlights its railway history with the collaboration of its inhabitants. Under the name "RAILWAY HERITAGE: A Participatory Installation," numerous residents of La Encina, coordinated by Vanesa García López de Andújar, an architect who specialized in heritage management and a local resident, have come together to create a temporary art installation around the past, present, and future of the town's railway heritage and its role in local, sustainable development.

La Encina is the only pure railway village in the Valencian Community. It boasts a railway heritage that dates back to the mid-19th century, which is the key to its local identity. Furthermore, it has been declared a Local Relevance Asset due to its architectural, historical, ethnological, technological, and other cultural values, including its landscape, social, and industrial aspects. Over the past years, the population has hosted various activities as part of the European Heritage Days, and in 2021, the younger members were awarded the European Heritage Makers prize.

This initiative carried out thanks to the "Cultural Proposals in Art, Science, Technology, and Society" call from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, aims to advocate for the conservation of the local railway heritage, which is at risk, while paying homage to this heritage, which is not only material but also immaterial, emphasizing its importance in the town's history as a symbol of identity, as a Living Heritage.
