A meeting point between the historic centre and the new Confluence district, the Lyon Archives combines past and modernity. Behind a large glass roof, in the heart of the former fully rehabilitated postal sorting centre, lie more than eight centuries of Lyon’s memory. The archives produced by the municipal administration since the Middle Ages are carefully preserved on kilometres of shelves. Archives of families, companies, associations, unions, architects and photographers complement these sources of Lyon’s history and reflect the social and cultural diversity of the territory over time.
