Overview

Patrimoines irréguliers de France is closely linked to the intellectual heritage of Laurent Danchin, art critic and tireless defender of extraordinary creators. At the initiative of numerous exhibitions, meetings and publications, he led the project of a network for safeguarding the heritage of contemporary popular art, including notably the preservation of the Village of Preludian Art of Chomo. It is in this spirit that this cycle of meetings was born, conceived as a living tribute to Laurent Danchin, to continue his struggles, share the challenges of conservation of these unique heritages, and engage specialists, witnesses and amateurs in a dialogue around non-standard art environments. During this meeting, we will have the pleasure to present the very first monograph dedicated to Roger Chomeaux, dit Chomo (1907-1999), published by Lelivredart under the direction of Aymeric Rouillac. This richly illustrated book brings together many unpublished archives, testifying to the singular journey of this visionary artist. This presentation will be the occasion for an exchange with Aymeric Rouillac – auctioneer committed to safeguarding the works of Chomo, with whom Laurent Danchin had organized in 2015 the exhibition Make a dream with Chomo at the Château de Tours – as well as with Françoise Monnin, art historian and editor in chief of the magazine Artension.
