Réouverture de Notre-Dame de Paris
Located in the historic centre of Paris, at the end of the Île de la Cité, which is also home to the Sainte Chapelle, construction of Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral began in the Middle Ages. Work began in the 13th century and was completed in the 15th century. Badly damaged during the French Revolution, the cathedral was restored in the 19th century by the architect Viollet-le-Duc. Many visitors admire the stained glass windows and rose windows, the towers and gargoyles, and the art collections of statues, paintings, tapestries and liturgical objects that make up the Treasury. Under the forecourt of Notre-Dame, an archaeological crypt displays remains dating back to Antiquity.
