Restoring an older building: an introduction workshop.
A one-day workshop held at Knockelly Castle during Heritage Week.
This workshop aims to equip those who are thinking of renovating or restoring an older building, but are not sure where to start. From identifying problems and appropriate solutions, to retrofitting and the Vacant & Derelict Property Refurbishment Grant.
This workshop will be delivered by the Conservation Consultant and Knockelly’s resident stone mason, Tom Pollard.
Topics include:
How to assess the condition of an older building
The principles of conservation
The lessons learnt from work at Knockelly
Organising and engaging the right professionals
Grants and retrofitting
The course also includes guided practicals to put theory into practice, in a real-world scenario.
The workshop will start at 9:30am with tea & coffee, and conclude at 5pm.
Tickets cost €120, with morning tea / coffee & lunch included.
