Overview

Founded in 1101, Fontevraud Abbey is the largest monastic city in Europe. Central detention house between 1814 and 1963, it has been, since 1975, one of the highlights of regional heritage. Visitors are invited to discover different exhibitions: A crazy story of time, On the fly and from one world to another. Mediation workshops will allow you to learn about architectural construction techniques. Throughout these two days, student guides will be present to provide you with information on the history of the site. Meet professionals in the heritage professions, such as the stone masons of Saumur. Free and without reservation.
