ANDABIDEA, THE MORTUARY PATH, MORE THAN JUST A PATH

We will highlight the social function of these paths through a guided tour of the ancient “andabide” in the Artaun neighborhood. In Dima, this term referred to a specific and unchanging path that the funeral procession had to follow from the house of the deceased to the church. It was considered a public path, to the extent that if it was altered for any reason, it created a right of way. To prevent this, the neighbors, through communal work (auzolan), took care to always keep it passable.

ANDABIDEA, EL CAMINO MORTUORIO, MÁS QUE UN CAMINO 

Pondremos en valor la función social de estos caminos, mediante un recorrido guiado por el antiguo “andabide” del barrio de Artaun. En Dima se denominaba así a un camino determinado e invariable por el que debía transitar la comitiva funeraria desde la casa mortuoria hasta la iglesia. Tenía carácter de camino público, hasta el punto de que si por alguna circunstancia se alteraba, generaba una servidumbre de paso. Para evitarlo, los vecinos, en auzolan, se encargaban de mantenerlo siempre transitable.

ANDABIDEA, BIDE SOIL BAT BAINO GEHIAGO

Artaun auzoko lehenagoko andabidean zehar ibilaldi gidatu bat eginaz, bide hauek zeukaten funtzio soziala balioan jartzea da jardueraren xedea. Izan ere, lehenago, gorpua andetan, eta sorbalda gainean, eramaten zen etxetik elizaraino bide jakin eta aldaezin bat eginaz. Diman, bide hauei, andabideak deitu izan zaie eta irekiak izaten ziren. Bidea itxita egon eta alboko lurretatik pasatzen bazen gorpua eta hileta-segizioa, zorbidea sortzen zen.
