Visita guiada a la exposición sobre el universo existente entre las creencias y la ciencia en la costa de Bizkaia

“Quien fuere a la mar, que aprenda a rezar”. Sobre los terrores a la mar se ha ido tejiendo la religiosidad y devoción especial que la gente de nuestras costas sintió y practicó como medio de buenos augurios y esperanza de salvación.

Continuando con el recorrido sobre el pasado marítimo de Olabeaga (8/10/2023), el historiador marino, Xabier Armendariz, parte de un exvoto procedente de la parroquia de este barrio para descubrirnos el tránsito desde las creencias populares a los avances del conocimiento para enfrentarse a los peligros que la mar entraña.

"He who goes to sea, let him learn to pray". The special religiosity and devotion that the people of our coasts felt and practised as a means of good omens and hope for salvation has been woven around the terrors of the sea.

Continuing with the journey through Olabeaga's maritime past (8/10/2023), the marine historian, Xabier Armendariz, takes an ex-voto from the parish church in this neighbourhood as his starting point to show us the transition from popular beliefs to the advances in knowledge in order to face the dangers of the sea.
