SLÍ BEATHA - Our Way of Life: A celebration of connections through time
Join us in Granard where you'll be amazed by designs once only seen in the diaries of Leonardo De Vinci and James Watt brought to life. The Knights and Conquests Heritage Centre hosts a community heritage day celebrating the National Heritage Week theme of Connections, Routes and Networks.
Witness for yourself the designs of the first steam-propelled vehicle by William Murdock brought to life and built over the last year in Granard. Speak with Eamonn Creamer the master craftsman responsible for its construction along with the realisation of Leonardo De Vinci's design, Bianconi transport and the very special Model T known as Michael Collins' car, plus much much more.
Granard's men shed will have a full display of associated artefacts and equipment. Lakeland Vintage will also be in Granard for a very special display of transport through the ages with vintage vehicles driven by personnel in period dress. The heritage day is an all-inclusive event with art exhibitions by various members of the community. The Black Pigs Race and the Sacred Watercourses of the region will be highlighted in dedicated talks, art displays, and children's workshops.
