Self-guided tour of the Jongkind house
Visit the House of Johan Barthold Jongkind. Precursor of Impressionism and master of Claude Monet. Typical house of Honfleur built around a boat mast. Norman architecture: tomettes, beams, spiral stairs, half-timbering, and charm of the fishermen’s house of the time. The House presents lithospheres of Jongkind and his work, as well as multiple objects of the past making the place a real Cabinet of Curiosities inviting the young and old to remember their youth, to wonder about the time or use of the objects on display. A link with the Honfleur Artists is also made. House open for the 2nd time in its history. A fun visit in the historic center of Honfleur.
