Overview

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, discover the secrets of a building directly from the 12th century. In the afternoon, discover Saint-Etienne in pictures: through an exhibition of postcards from several decades of travelers, and by digital modeling with Noovae. This company will present the digitization project of the Saint-Etienne church and the techniques that allow to revive the forgotten heritage. The Romanesque architecture of the church of Saint-Étienne de Nevers is marked by characteristic elements of this style of the XIth and XIIth century, such as thick walls, barrel vaults and semicircular arches. These elements bring great stability to the building, while giving it a sober and majestic atmosphere. The sculpted capitals, often decorated with vegetal or symbolic motifs, add an artistic touch to the whole. The small windows, creating a subdued light, reinforce the spiritual aspect of the place, typical of Romanesque architecture that aimed to inspire contemplation and the permanence of faith.
