Self-guided tour of the Saint-Laurent church
From 1060, the church is consecrated and dedicated to Saint-Laurent. This ancient church, contemporary with the apse that survived it, was largely ruined during the Hundred Years' War and lost its nave. The nave, rebuilt at the end of the 15th century, is dominated by a high vault with prominent ribs connected by stone keys adorned with bas-reliefs. Before leaving the nave, note the heavy stone pulpit, which protrudes in the form of a circular ambo with a conical base. The chevet of the church is a completed piece of Romanesque architecture. The triumphal arch of the entrance, the Romanesque vault of the apse and, at the base, the arcatures with historiated capitals form a setting worthy of the Romanesque paintings rediscovered at the end of the 19th century. This pictorial set stands out for its great iconographic wealth. Members of the heritage preservation association will be present to guide and inform visitors. Informations Free. Without reservation.
