Listed as a Historic Monument, the castle of the Montgommery de Ducey-Les-Chéris was built in the first twenty years of the seventeenth century under the reign of Henry IV, by Gabriel II de Montgommery, the son of the regicide. Superb ceilings adorned with paintings, imposing fireplaces and a monumental staircase testify to an ambitious and innovative architectural project due to a powerful Protestant lord whose family marked the history of France.
