Overview
Château de Crozant – A ruined fortress at the top of history
Located on a spectacular peninsula, at the crossroads of the Creuse and the Sédelle, the castle of Crozant once occupied a strategic military site, designed to be impregnable.
Today in ruins, this medieval fortress continues to impose its silhouette on a rocky outcrop perched nearly 75 meters above the river. On a space of about 380 meters long, the remains of the castle are revealed along the paths, between wild nature and stones loaded with history. 🔹 Access by a bridge crossing the ditch 🔹 Remains of the entrance castle, defense towers, and Colin Tower 🔹 Traces of the three successive great courtyards built in the thirteenth century, especially under the impetus of Hugues de Lusignan We can still guess the volumes of the old tower of the Fox, the chapel of the counts, or a possible seigneurial home. Despite some late redevelopment, the complex retains its strong 13th century architecture. 🌿 A free and impressive walk, between grandiose nature and medieval memory. 🏰 Self-guided tour Informations Free.
