Six thousand places in fantasy, railroad, potatoes and good shoes!
The Château de Fontenay has existed since about 1650\\. Since then, many events have drawn its current face. Built in the form of a «dwelling», it was badly damaged by the fire that the Prussians started in retaliation in 1871\\. The troops set fire to the Castle causing much of its destruction and leaving only a few steaming ruins. The architect and artist Auguste Bucquet, owner of the castle, began its reconstruction on the ruins of the old house. Meanwhile, the Castle boasts additional towers, and becomes the theater of intersecting destinies. Ferry on the Cher, miller, baker, winemaker, are all lives sheltered within the estate, which still carries today the material or written traces of this history. Local memory continues to teach us regularly about our past…
