Overview

The Church of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens is a Catholic church located in the village of Argançon, in Aube. It is dedicated to Saint Peter, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. The first mention of the existence of a Christian place of worship in Argançon dates from the eleventh century. It was then a Romanesque chapel that was on the current site of the church. This chapel was then rebuilt in the 12th century, in the Romanesque style. The current church is a remarkable building in many ways. First of all, it is one of the oldest churches in Dawn. Its history dates back to the 11th century, which makes it a precious witness of the evolution of the region. Then the church is a fine example of Romanesque architecture. Its style is characterized by its simple lines and carved ornaments. Finally, it houses many religious art objects, including a statue of Saint Peter, a tribune organ and Romanesque stained glass windows.
