Overview

At once museum of history(story), museum of watchmaking and museum of science, the Museum of Time(Weather) is before any a place where have talks the time(weather) of world, the time(weather) of the city and the time(weather) of the men(people). Having installed(settled) since 2002 in a Historical monument, the Granvelle palace, the Museum of Time(Weather) pays tribute in history(story) and in watchmaking tradition of Besançon. Granvelle palace, a little of history(story) Nicolas Perrenot de Granvelle, first Adviser(Councillor) of State and Keeper of the Seals of the emperor Charles the Fifth, chooses to build at the heart of the bisontine buckle(loop) a prestigious house. Construction begins in 1533 and ends for the shell in 1542 with the erection of a leaky tower of a passage vaulted above the alleyway of the Carmelites. Throughout his career(quarry), Nicolas de Granvelle gathers(combines) art collections and antiques to which will be added the library(bookcase) of his son Antoine, cardinal and adviser(councillor) of Philippe II d' Espagne. This prestigious set(group) establishes(constitutes) the primitive(initial) fund(collection) of the museum of Fine Arts and of Archaeology and that of the local Library(Bookcase).
