Located opposite the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée de la Légion d'honneur et des ordres de Chevalerie traces the history of French and foreign awards and decorations from the Middle Ages (since Louis XI) to the present day. There are many Napoleonic souvenirs. The Hôtel de Salm (1782), in which the museum is located, also houses the Grand Chancellery of the Legion of Honour.
