Overview

Attached to the old general hospital built in the middle of the eighteenth century, this place of worship, was formerly open on the sick room which could thus attend the services behind wooden balusters. The chapel has a nave and a flat apse with a tiled roof. The interior is covered with panelled vaults with exposed trusses. The choir contains an altar-tabernacle and a polychrome altarpiece with a painting in the center representing Saint-Charles-Borromé, offered following the plague of 1720. If this building is no longer the chapel of the sick of the hospital, it remains the witness of an unusual and even exemplary history. Paimbœuf retains the memory of its past with an exceptional architectural ensemble, dense and homogeneous corresponding to the port activity that was that of Paimbœuf from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. Desecrated and restored the chapel Saint-Charles is today a room dedicated to cultural events, exhibitions, concerts, shows... Open only during events
