St Pauls TY Intergenerational Project & The Value of Memory Project
An exhibition of screenprints, gravestone rubbings, drawings & letterpress bookmarks by St Paul's Transition Year students 2023-24, based on their exploration of two of the oldest graveyards in Monasterevin, The Passlands and St John's. Older members of the community shared stories and memories through recorded interviews which the students illustrated. The recordings will be deposited in the Kildare Co Co Oral History collection for the benefit of future generations. This project was funded by Monasterevin Tidy Towns through a Kildare Heritage grant.
Aligning with the Heritage Week Theme of connections, routes and networks, “The Value of Memory Project” evolved from this, with Angelina Foster of Blueway Art Studio, in collaboration with The Passlands committee. We continue to record the memories of the community with connections to the Passlands and exhibit some memory books created as part of this project. We hope to highlight the value of memories of all ages through this project. Funded by Kildare Heritage Office in partnership with The Passlands Committee.
