Overview

The first known mention of the parish dates back to 1179, when it was under the rule of the Templars of Lacapelle-Livron, currently located in Tarn-et-Garonne. On some occasions the church formed a preceptory with Carnac. In 1342 it was attached to Cambayrac, but regained its independence in 1533\\. There is no doubt, given the architecture and decoration, that the church was completely rebuilt in the late 15th or early 16th century. At the beginning of the 14th century, the patronage passed to the hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem, and the coat of arms of the Order of Malta adorned the southern chapel. It seems that the nave was vaulted only in 1749, as evidenced by the date inscribed on one of the keystones.
