Stories from the Lost Library of Maynooth Castle
Maynooth Castle’s library was once a treasure trove of knowledge during the Middle Ages, with books written in Irish, English, French and Latin. The Earls of Kildare filled their library with the fantastic legends of Cú Chulainn and the Tuatha Dé Danann, the ancient myths of Rome and Greece, and tales about the brave deeds of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table. The library even contained the very first recorded copy of the Children of Lír! Come listen as the Earl’s resident storyteller will retell some of these stories in medieval costume. Please note, children must be accompanied by an adult. There are no toilet facilities on site. Please contact the castle via the phone number below, regarding wheelchair access.
