Sustainable Heritage: Living in Harmony with the Land

Join us on Tuesday 20th August at Dunmanway Library for a collaborative workshop exploring the theme ‘Sustainable Heritage: Living in Harmony with the Land.’ This event will delve into the inherently sustainable and environmentally conscious lifestyles of our ancestors, exploring their remarkable resourcefulness and profound connection to the natural world.

Through focused discussions on traditional clothing and retail practices, food consumption habits, agricultural methods, local crafts and transport systems, we will uncover how past generations lived in harmony with the land. Attendees are encouraged to actively participate by sharing their photographs, stories, and memorabilia relevant to the theme.

Whether you have a story about family farming traditions, a cherished heirloom, or recollections and photographs of old transport methods, your contributions will enrich our collective understanding of sustainable heritage.

This workshop, hosted by the Cork County Council Heritage Specialist Shannon Forde, promises to be a journey into our shared past, revealing lessons that can guide us towards a more sustainable future.
