The Castle of Muñatones, as a real scenario that was of the War of the Bands, is the ideal place for Ekaitz Etxeberria shares the contents of his recent doctoral thesis on the techniques of combat to end of the Middle Ages.
It is a special guided tour in which, while we get to know the history of this tower and the of its main protagonist, Lope García de Salazar, we will focus on defensive architecture as warfare technology used in gang fighting.

The private Basque wars of the 14th and 15th centuries were developed as a strategy of attrition to undermining or destroying the enemy's military, economic and social infrastructure Assassinations, ambushes, raids of devastation, burning of crops and forests, attacks on towers and sometimes battles. The usual procedure in this game of power was to go to the country. With these methods, lineages and sides tried to impose on their opponents even though the very condition of the territory and the nature of the conflict made that no victory would be decisive and, ultimately, no contestant would have the capacity to impose on each other.
