Taking root, men and plants in exile
The Protestant Temple of Saillans has been converted into a «cultural space» but it still carries a singular history that would be regrettable to forget. The consistory of the Reformed Church of France of Crest and its section of Saillans will decide on the construction of a new temple. It was built in what is now Rue Faubourg du Temple in 1818 and inaugurated in 1824\\. This building will cease to be properly maintained from the 1970s to 1980s. In 1990 it will be decommissioned for security reasons and ceded in 2001 to the community of communes of the Pays de Saillans. In 2010, this community will rehabilitate it as a «cultural space» with a performance hall and two artists' workshops. In 2014, ownership of the renovated building will be transferred to the Community of Communes of Crestois and Pays de Saillans (CCCPS). Faubourg 26 is the pilot association charged by the CCCPS to ensure the animation of the cultural space of the Temple. Faubourg26 also hosts artist residencies and organ
