'Holy Trinity Westport' is a striking church, of the Anglican (Church of Ireland) tradition, architecturally Gothic in style but distinct from other church buildings of its time, or since. Built between 1869 and 1871 and consecrated in 1872, it is of significant religious, cultural, historic, architectural and artistic interest. Behind its stunningly mural-clad walls, stained-glass windows and quirky piped organ lie many tales of the ordinary and not-so-ordinary lives of local folks and the scintillating sagas of bygone days. Truly a place of gathering and a haven of ongoing spiritual importance - not only to members of the weekly congregation but to people from across the local faith communities - its members and custodians embrace and encourage its (respectful) use every year by a broad range of local, national and international creatives and musicians, by hosting events which support and nurture not only the arts but the community spirit upon which this special place was built. Most of all, Holy Trinity Westport is a place of love, faith and welcome. It receives hundreds of visitors annually from across the world, each of whom is considered a valued and important guest.
