Talk and Tour of Bodenstown Graveyard
Bodenstown Cemetery has been a place of worship and burial for several centuries and continues to function as the parish graveyard to this day. Many political groupings pay homage to the tomb of Wolfe Tone each summer and a large 1798 rebellion monument dominates the cemetery. Other notable features include famine era crosses, Viking myths and graves bearing a range of familiar family names and places from the local area. Indeed, the cemetery has many tales to tell. The talk will explore the history of the site along with lore and legends of the surrounding lands. Guests should expect to spend about an hour walking around the site, hearing and sharing stories, whilst paying respects to all of those remembered there. Booking required as numbers are limited each night.
