Overview
A little transhumance to play with quarter-shakers!
For the European Heritage Days 2025, the cooperative Hôtel du Nord offers a diptych of walks, on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September, both around the theme of animals in the northern districts. In 2024, the transhumance from Saint Louis to Miramar convinced us that animals remained at the heart of human relationships, including right in the city. So we sought throughout the year to get in touch with them: through heritage and ethological investigation, through working with raw wool, making flags, pompons, listening to and observing birds, wolves, insects or even bats-smile, with stories and songs. On Saturday we will look for the trace of animals in the city, going back up from the port, during the heritage walk The Path of the Cattle. On Sunday we leave again from Saint Antoine, to go through other neighborhoods also animated by the animal presence, ancient and current. To connect them, the little steps of a flock of sheep and their shepherd.
Starting from Saint Antoine, we will cross the plateau of Plan d'Aou, then we will go down the hill towards La Bricarde, then La Castellane, to go to the park of La Pelouque. We will take dirt roads, old agricultural crossings, will find the traces of bancaous and old farms of the Marseilles agricultural terroir on which the large complexes grew. Each one will welcome the flock in their own way: thus a sheep will be danced, a sheep will be sung, a sheep will be primped... we will talk about our relationships between humans and animals, urban eco-grazing, Marseille terroir, knitting and mechoui. Our transhumance will end with a large snack at the Pelouque park. Come welcome and join this funny walk, guided by a happy flock!Practical information:
