Overview

Since 1993, the monumental sculpture exhibition in Square Armand Steurs has promoted Belgian sculpture in the heart of the European capital. The only one of its kind in Brussels, this annual exhibition - initially organised by the non-profit association Les Amis du Square Armand Steurs, founded by Michel Delabaye and Myriam Goeminne - plays an essential role in promoting sculptural art in the region. The association was dissolved following Michel Delabaye’s death, but the initiative continues. The exhibition has been organized for the past three years by the non-profit Square de la sculpture. Set in the exceptional Square Armand Steurs, a green setting with Art Deco accents, the exhibition enjoys a remarkable architectural environment that enhances the works on display. It offers a rare opportunity to bring high-calibre creations to a broad, non-specialised public, illustrating the power of art to reach out to everyone. Free access further reinforces this desire for openness. Square Armand Steurs is also an exemplary testimony to the way in which the Art Deco style and the urban developments of the interwar period shaped Brussels’ architectural landscape. www.theartsquare.be/
