The Bus Collection at Alford is the home to a fascinating fleet of vehicles that have spent their lives being used as public transport across the vast road networks of Aberdeen City and Shire. The collection is maintained by The Aberdeen & District Transport Preservation Trust, which was created in 2006 and as much as possible, vehicles in the Trust’s care are returned to running condition and during events are presented to the public.
The collection aims to promote the education of the public by bringing together, holding, adequately housing, maintaining, preserving, and conserving a fleet of buses, coaches, trams and many other vehicles, along with any related equipment.
During the weekend visitors will receive a guided tour around the bus collection and have the opportunity to view bus preservation work in progress. Have your cameras at the ready as plenty of photo opportunities will exist as visitors will be permitted access to many of the vehicles on display. Weather permitting there may be an external display of vehicles with the possible of experiencing a “wee hurl” around the track, an adventure for all ages to enjoy!
The Bus Collection at Alford is a short walk to the left of the main entrance to the Grampian Transport Museum. It can also be accessed from the rear entrance to the site from Stewart Road. The fleet of vehicles are housed in the large green and cream building.
