25 August 2025
Overview

This walk will follow the route of the River Camac from where it enters Inchicore at Lansdowne Valley Park to where it leaves Kilmainham at Bow Bridge, not far from where it enters the Liffey at Heuston/Kingsbridge. Though sometimes referred to as a stream, the flowing water of the Camac powered four mills in the area, including one of Ireland’s largest woollen mills and Arthur Guinness’s profitable flour mill. In tracing the route of the river, the walk will highlight the way the river has shaped the settlement and development of the area over many centuries.
Distance: 3K approx, please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
