The Carswell Centre
20 September 2025 (10:00 - 16:00)
The Carswell Centre lies in the heart of the beautiful conservation village of Eaglesham, on Montgomery Street. The former church has been sympathetically refurbished as a community facility suitable for a variety of functions. The original building was constructed in the 19th century and is largely untouched externally. There are three historic items on display inside, all relating to Eaglesham’s heritage:
1. The Gemmell Statues (19th century, created by local, self-trained sculptor and including a piece featuring Robert Burns)
2. The Eaglesham Quilt, created by a group of local volunteers in 1992 and featuring the many groups and activities in the village at that time.
3. The Anderson Collection, a group of paintings, many featuring scenes in the village, by local artist Alistair Anderson.
For Doors Open Days two screenings of a recently created film 'This is Eaglesham' will be shown courtesy of the local history society - screenings at 11am and 2pm in the upper hall.
Leaflets with information about the building and the historical artefacts will be available and refreshments will be on offer throughout the day.
Lift access to upper floor.
