The Future of Glasgow’s Public Transport | Festival Talks 2025
18 September 2025 (19:30 - 21:00) Glasgow stands at the threshold of change, to build a climate resilient, equitable city for the next 850 years. Get Glasgow Moving will be screening a new animation by Sooz Reilly presenting their vision for the transformation of bus services in the city followed by a Q&A and panel discussion. This event is timely: it follows the recent decision by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (the regional transport authority) to proceed with bus franchising (as rolled out already in Greater Manchester with the ‘Bee Network’) and a public operator. The people of Glasgow have the power to shape the future of our public transport network and this event aims to raise public awareness of what we need to do together to ensure this bold vision is delivered. Overview Get Glasgow Moving is the grassroots regional public transport campaign founded in 2016 by local people. The campaign aims to achieve a fully integrated, affordable and accessible publicly owned and delivered public transport system for Glasgow and the wider Strathclyde region. We have several hundred members and thousands of supporters. Day to day running of the campaign is led by a volunteer management committee elected at the AGM. Limited spaces available in the surrounding streets – public transport encouraged Some Blue Badge parking available – contact the ARC for further information. All microphones in the building work in conjunction with an infrared hard of hearing system. There is also bike parking at the Advanced Research Centre (ARC). Water bottle refill stations For queries on accessibility at the ARC, please contact us on ARCEnquiries@glasgow.ac.uk or call our reception on +44 (0)141 330 4170.
