The History of Ireland, within the walls of Clonfert graveyard.
This year's heritage theme is "Connection, Routes and Networks". This event is titled "The History of Ireland, contained within the walls of our local graveyard." It will trace the history of Clonfert graveyard, which dates back centuries, and its connection to various people and places worldwide. Our speaker is Sheila O'Sullivan, a historian with extensive knowledge of local history.
Duhallow Heritage Society is a historical group drawn from the wider Duhallow Region. We are a voluntary group of history enthusiasts and have held a number of exhibitions and history talks in the past few years, along with carrying out a number of research projects. We recently published the seventeenth edition of the local history book Seanchas Dúthalla. This edition continues the legacy of collecting, recording, and preserving Duhallow's rich history. The book contains many articles from across the barony and beyond. It will take you on a journey through time and places, exploring people and events that have shaped Duhallow. It is available to purchase for €15.00.
